About the job

The Department of Economic Development and Tourism, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a competent individual to rendering of an effective Tourist Guide information desk/ reception desk service on a full-time basis, attend to in-person, telephonic and e-mail enquiries, process registration applications of Tourist Guides and provide administration assistance to the unit.

Job Purpose The Department of Economic Development and Tourism, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a competent individual to rendering of an effective Tourist Guide information desk/ reception desk service on a full-time basis, attend to in-person, telephonic and e-mail enquiries, process registration applications of Tourist Guides and provide administration assistance to the unit.
Minimum Requirements Senior Certificate (Grade 12 or equivalent qualification).
Recommendation Relevant experience in the following: Customer service /PRO; Tourist Guiding industry and Reception duties.
Key Performance Areas Frontline Tourist Guide service; Reception duties; Telephonist duties; Process registration applications of Tourist Guides; General Office Administration and secretarial support; Ensure an accurate filing system is kept.

 

Competencies A good understanding of the following: Tourism and or Regulatory environment; Basic knowledge of records management; Skills needed: Computer literacy in MS Office Package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc); Communication (written and verbal); Attention to detail; Client-orientated personality; Independent thinker; Well organized; Ability in the following: To work independently and as part of a team; To work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

 

Remuneration R 216 417per annum (Salary Level 5)

Note on remuneration: Service benefits or obligations for qualifying employees (medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc) are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.

Notes Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit documentation for verification purposes and criminal record vetting. These candidates will be required to d practical and attend interviews on a date and time determined by the department and may also be required to undergo competency assessments/proficiency tests. The selection process will be guided by the EE targets of the employing department.
