Special Conditions
  • The position of Multipurpose Room Assistant is interchangeable with Cold Store Assistant.
  • Must be able to handle hazard chemicals such as Ammonia and Ethylene gas.
  •  40 hours 6-day week

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a cold environment (5 degree Celsius).
  • Must be physically fit.
Job Purpose To maintain and provide an efficient and effective cold store service and facility.

This post reports to SUPERVISOR (MULTIPURPOSE RIPENING ROOMS)
Key Responsibility Areas
  • Loads and removes produce from cold store by counting produce and signing with relevant comarket agents staff and other market users.
  • Undertakes stock audits and inspects quality of produce prior to loading into rooms.
  • Checks for mechanical defects and reports these defects to the Supervisor.
  • Removes decaying produce to markets skip (dumping) area.
  • Undertakes the filing of documentation and record-keeping.
  • Allocates rooms to market agents and other users.
  • Undertakes cleaning of cold store complex.
  • Provides relief to the Supervisor

Essential Requirements
  • Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent.
